Josh's Review: Fire Red and Leaf Green Versions

Okay, guys, first thing's first: Dodrio doesn't own a copy of Fire Red or Leaf Green for me to borrow and write a review off of, but she has played the games many times before and has told me about them, so I'm going to attempt to write a review of them. If I happen to give any incorrect information, please, please, please contact Dodrio Girl via email to notify her to tell me to change it. Anyways, Fire Red and Leaf Green Versions are remakes of the original Red and Blue Versions. Okay, so you understand where the Fire Red part comes from, right? But what about Leaf Green, well, for the few of you who don't know, Blue Version was originally Green Version back in Japan, but there's many stories as to why it was changed into Blue Version. So I guess to bring Green to America after forever, they made Leaf Green Version.
These games were released in America September 9th, 2004. They featured all new enhanced graphics, and a chance to actually capture all 386 Pokemon through trading with Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald. Like R/B/Y, your character could be male, but this time around, you could also choose a female character! And like the original games as well, you had to gain the 8 badges of the Kanto Region. But the Kanto Region has been slightly rearranged. In Fire Red and Leaf Green, the three legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltreas) are now located on new islands. You can also catch the rare Deoxys on a new island as well, if you have the right items. These were the first games to enable the use of the wire-less adapters for trading and battling.
Like Ruby and Sapphire, though, they were to be used on a Nintendo Gameboy Advance or Nintendo Gameboy SP console. They were also compatible with a Nintendo DS console. Even though they were remakes of Red and Blue, they cannot be played on the original Gameboy Color console like the originals.
Overall, I'd give these games a 4 star rating for bringing out the best of the original games. These games were a big jump in technology, even compared to how identical they seem to Ruby and Sapphire Version. If you've ever played them or seen them played next to each other, you'd see what I mean.
