Josh's Review: Ruby and Sapphire Versions
Ruby and Sapphire Versions were released in America March 17th, 2003. These games continued the use of a male or female character, breeding Pokemon, and other features found in Gold and Silver. But with these games, the plot line is held in a completely different region: Hoenn. There were also now 386 Pokemon in comparison to the old number of 251. You had to fight through the game against Team Magma or Team Aqua to save the planet and put the legendary Pokemon, Kyogre and Groudon back to sleep. Now, you could also make Secret Bases. You could decorate these with dolls and tables and other objects that you buy and/or receive throughout the game. There was time in these games, but not like the time held in G/S/C. In this game, time did not dictate what people or Pokemon you encountered, nor did it change from dark to light outside. Ruby and Sapphire were the first Pokemon games to be set on a Nintendo Gameboy Advance and a Nintendo Gameboy SP. These games are also compatible with the Nintendo DS console as well.
Too bad there isn't really much to write on this topic. Oh well, on to the ratings: overall, I'd give these games a 4 star rating. They kind of dropped down the list in comparison to G/S/C, but that's okay, because with the cool, enhanced graphics, they still stack up well.
Hm, there's only one thing that line could mean; an explanation of something. Probably of why there isn't a review of Emerald in this section or even in its own page. Well, Dodrio Girl never really liked Emerald Version. She thought of it as a slightly cheap copy of Ruby/Sapphire and Crystal, the way the Pokemon were supposedly 'animated'. So for that reason, Dodrio Girl did not purchase a copy of Emerald Version and does not plan to in the near future. Maybe, one day, she'll borrow her brother's copy and write a review based on that. But I'm not quite sure, and would have to get back to you on this topic.
